“So, how do we get this thing to go viral?” That’s a common question tossed around the table at ad agencies these days. Media buying companies want their ad campaigns to be as effective as possible, for sure. But, in the day and age of YouTube and others, companies need to promote their products perfectly and quickly every time. That’s where ambient media comes in to save the day. I’ve always appreciated aggressive ad campaigns, but it’s so much easier to appreciate the ones that are aggressive without appearing to be. Ambient media through companies like Buy Now Media serves to saturate a market with a message in so many unconventional ways. Pushing sales, looks, or even clicks to a viral point is still a challenge, but so much more attainable with ambient media methods. I was riding on the sub-way the other morning almost in a panic while I looked at least ten different ads on the straps. I felt like I had to know what else was written on these stupid straps! Then, a few of those same companies had posters on the walls with simple web addresses. I checked them all out. I don’t know if my clicks or looks helped their campaign to go viral or not, but their use of ambient media sure got me to learn more about their products. Viral or not, ambient media is so interesting because it works.
